Year End is Upon Us

Small nonprofit year-end planning starts now.

September and October are the window to step back from day-to-day demands and make sure your organization is ready to finish the year strong—and begin the next one with purpose.

A few focused steps now can make a meaningful difference:

-Review program results, finances, grants, and year-to-date fundraising.

-Identify what is working, what is unfinished, and what needs to change.

-Set three to five realistic priorities for the coming year.

-Begin the budget process and look carefully at cash flow.

-Prepare a focused year-end fundraising message and donor outreach plan.

-Give board members clear roles in giving, stewardship, and community outreach.

You do not need a lengthy strategic plan to move forward. For many small nonprofits and rural community organizations, a clear one-page work plan—with priorities, owners, timelines, and measures of success—can create the focus and accountability needed for a strong year ahead.

Review. Prioritize. Budget. Fundraise. Thank.

If year-end planning feels bigger than your current capacity, it may be time to bring in facilitation, fundraising, or planning support to help turn good intentions into a clear path forward.
